Kinfaith

Origins

Generally speaking, kinsmen subscribe to the common theological origin model of Elementism (which states that the peoples of Destrea were created by extraplanar Gods, using elements of the natural world- stone, grass, clay, et cetera). Their interpretation, however, posits that the acual catalytic event which bore orcs and humans from the earth was the spilled blood of two fallen heroes, the brothers Irreghan and Mort'hano, at the First Dawn.

It is believed that they were slain in the first battle of Destrea's history, three thousand years before Aegis' Wake. According to Kinfaith myth, this battle was waged against an ancient evil whose name has been lost to history. One theory of note, mostly supported by critics of Voracism, is that the evil in question is Vorac'nath'al, the Elder Dragon.

Common Etiquette

When speaking of the two brothers, human followers mention Mort'hano (the orcish hero) first, while orcish followers do the same with Irreghan (his human brother).

Furthermore, when dining with a member of their brother race, devout followers make a point to grasp each other's forearms just shy of the elbow, while bowing their heads. In more formal settings, kinsmen may recite the Fraternal oath: "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb."

Death

Kinsmen believe that, in order for their spirit to be returned to nature and attain enlightenment in the afterlife, one cannot be allowed to die alone, that is, without holding the hand of another living person. They must do so while on the ground- that is to say on dirt, grass, sand, snow, mud, etc.- not in bed, nor at sea, or on cobblestone (for instance).

Mort'hano, Fraterna Primaris of Orc

The Holy text from which Kinfaith derives its beliefs, Mort'hano's Journal, is widely distributed throughout the realm- though the original manuscript has been lost for centuries.

Irreghan, Fraterna Primaris of Man

It is said by kinsmen priests that in the prophesied Final Dusk, two heroes of Mort'hano and Irreghan's direct line of descent will come forth, wielding their legendary sword and warhammer, to vanquish the enemies of orc and man.
