Stonnicism

Stonnicism, the philosophy made famous by the Order of the Stone Fist, is an ancient and venerated discipline whose origins predate recorded history.

The Steadiest Hand Cuts Truest

Stonnic Monks undergo careful, but painful alterations of their naturally bulky hands, so as to render them more dexterous. The procedure is permanent, but allows for more intricate use of tools, weapons, and martial techniques.

'Vasa Vacua Maxime Sonant'

An eldercommon expression, borrowed from the great Irreghani Emperor, Adonius Rex, which is inscribed in Giant above the entryway of The Spire at Whiterock (principal holy site of the Stonnic faithful). In common, it means 'Empty vessels make the most sound', and refers in this case to the Stonnic monks' traditional vow of silence, undertaken from their first day as an initiate, to their last as a Stone's Equal (the highest rank for most Orders of the Fist). While not arcanically enforced in any punitive way, their vows are taken very seriously, and if violated, result in the immediate expulsion of the speaker.

"He who trains his hands with sufficient diligence can never be disarmed."

- Ul'Crag Littlespeaker, former Monk of the Stone Fist, who famously broke his vow of silence giving directions to a visiting traveller from Voran, with whom he would later form a romantic life-bond.
